Abstract
We present a theory which predicts intrinsic multiple peaks in the quasiparticle tunneling conductance of quasi-two-dimensional (2D) and one-dimensional high-Tc superconductors with pairing mechanisms which involve electrons not just near the Fermi surface but in the whole conduction band. Multiple peaks occur due to singularities in the band-structure density of states. Interestingly, the gapless 2D d-wave superconducting state exhibits a peak in the tunneling conductance which closely resembles the peak due to the gap in an ordinary s-wave superconductor.
