Abstract
We have found ordering phenomena in the new, tetragonal superconducting material CaBaLaCu3O7−δ using transmission electron microscopy. High-resolution electron microscopy combined with image simulation was used to estimate the occupancy of the cation sites. Using the symmetry and extinctions observed in the electron-diffraction patterns, we derive a model explaining the observed phenomena. The model combines oxygen ordering in the CuO planes with lanthanum and barium ordering.
