Abstract
The upper critical field of a strongly anisotropic electron system is studied both in the clean limit and in the dirty limit. The results are compared with the recent experiment on (TMTSF)2ClO4. Although the clean-limit theory without the Pauli paramagnetic term describes quite well the temperature dependence of Hc2(T) for the field parallel to the b’ axis and to the c* axis, Hc2(T) for the field parallel to the a axis requires both the Pauli paramagnetism and the spin-orbit scattering. The latter effects are considered within the dirty limit.
