Abstract

We have reexamined the accurate specific heat data of Barnes and Hake on the extreme type-II classical superconducting alloy Ti–16 at. % Mo to see if the effects of fluctuations can be seen. We show that the zero-magnetic-field data near Tc can be described by a singular term of the form ‖Tc-T‖−1/2. This is the same result found for the Y-Ba-Cu-O superconductor and that expected from a model involving Gaussian fluctuations considered by Thouless and by Aslamazov and Larkin. Also we find that, above a certain magnetic field defined by Landau and Lifshitz, the data scale according to relations derived by Douglass.
