Abstract
Based upon the reduced Hamiltonian obtained previously through the mass-reduction mechanism, we calculate the linear response of the Meissner current to the transverse gauge field. It is assumed that the superconducting phase transition is given by the direct formation of zero-momentum bosons in condensation from quasifermions in the normal Fermi-liquid phase. The result obtained shows that the response is very local. The recent data of the Pippard coherence length in Y-Ba-Cu-O can be explained by our theory. In fact, by taking g=1.5, which is a reasonable assumption in the case of Y-Ba-Cu-O, we obtain the reported value of ξab(0).
