Abstract

Little’s suggestion for synthesizing a room-temperature superconductor in organic materials is reviewed critically. A better model is proposed for the purpose. Our argument is not based on the Cooper pair but on our recent proposal of a new pair composed of valence and conduction electrons in an insulator. A spinless model Hamiltonian is given for our proposed system and is mapped to the one-dimensional Hubbard model to obtain exact results. These results are compared favorably with those in the mean-field approximation. Many new and unusual properties are predicted for our proposed system. Our mechanism is rather general and applies to two-dimensional multilayered systems and three-dimensional multisublattice systems.
