Abstract

The slope of the generalized Ginzburg-Landau parameter κ2(T) at Tc is calculated in the clean limit using Eliashberg’s strong-coupling theory. Fermi surfaces rotationally invariant about the magnetic-field axis are considered, and specific results are presented for the spherical and the cylindrical case. For a given Fermi surface, an upper bound on the normalized κ2 slope is found for a coupling strength Tc/〈ω〉≃0.16, where 〈ω〉 is a characteristic frequency in the coupling function. The maximum enhancement factor relative to the weak-coupling value is of the order 1.5. Finally, it is found that, for very strong coupling, Tc/〈ω〉≳0.4, the slope in κ2 changes sign.
