Abstract
The charge-density response function in the superconducting state of a three-dimensional system is examined. The calculations are carried out using an anisotropic tight-binding band structure and various phenomenological anisotropic superconducting order parameters. The results are analyzed in the context of sound attenuation. The aim is to gain information about the properties of layered superconducting systems. The relevance of the present work to the high-temperature cuprate superconductors is discussed.
