Abstract
The electronic properties of the CuO2 planes of high-Tc superconductors have been analyzed using an approach that combines Green-function techniques with the calculation of the appropriate self-energies. We obtain the antiferromagnetic-paramagnetic phase diagram, the optical gap of the undoped planes, the effective mass in the paramagnetic phase, and the localization of the additional holes. A good agreement with other theoretical analyses and available experimental data is found.
