Abstract

Layered compounds with alternating sequences of superconducting (S or S’) and normal (N or N’) layers are considered assuming a Josephson coupling between layers. The spectrum of quasiparticles is calculated and the I-V characteristics are obtained. Our results are illustrated by the case of quasiperiodic superconducting superlattices, i.e., Fabonacci sequences, where the density of states is shown to be sensitive to the symmetry of the sequence.
