Abstract
The lattice-gauge representation of the Ginzburg-Landau free-energy functional introduced by Doria, Gubernatis, and Rainer is generalized to treat Josephson-coupled superconductor-insulator multilayer materials. Numerical calculations are performed for an applied field parallel to the layers, primarily for κ=5. Results are presented for the upper and lower critical fields as well as the slope of the magnetization at the upper critical field. The calculations for the lower critical field are compared with the recent analytical formulation of Clem and Coffey and Clem, Coffey, and Hao. No previous prediction is available for the slope of the magnetization curve in a layered system.
