Abstract

By assuming that the mean-field transition temperature Tm is higher than the superconducting transition temperature Tc, and that the scattering between the electrons and impurities is important, we crudely estimate the electric conductivity σab in the ab plane and σc along the c direction in the high-temperature superconductors. Since the coherence length along the c direction is unusually short, a metallic temperature dependence of σab and a nonmetallic behavior of σc are obtained and their magnitudes are found to be consistent with the experimental data.
