Abstract

We examine a simple model of anharmonic phonons with application to the superconducting isotope effect. Linear and quadratic electron-phonon coupling are considered for various model potentials. The results of the model calculations are compared with the high-temperature superconductors La2−xSrxCuO4, Y1−xPrxBa2Cu3O7−δ, and YBa2Cu3−xMxO7−δ with M=Zn, Ni, or Fe.
