Abstract
The problem of a single two-dimensional, or pancake, vortex in a cylinder of type-II superconductor is solved. The cylinder may be surrounded by either a second superconductor or by nonsuperconducting material. Results are given for electrodynamic fields and densities, found by use of Fourier transformation. Relevant Wronskian and Green’s function relations are recalled. Special cases are examined and magnetic fluxes are computed. These results, based on a continuum approach, are useful for modeling superconducting samples of small diameter.
