Abstract

The recently reported and hitherto poorly understood resistance anomalies at the superconducting transition of quasi-one-dimensional mesoscopic Al structures can be induced by radio-frequency radiation. We show that these anomalies are correlated with changes in the voltage-current characteristics which are created in the presence of the radiation below the superconducting transition. The anomalies appear to be closely related to the creation of localized phase-slip centers by the radio-frequency radiation. © 1996 The American Physical Society.
