Abstract
Superconductivity in a layered organic compound, α-(BEDT−TTF)2NH4Hg(SCN)4, has been characterized by measurements of the in-plane and out-of-plane resistivities and susceptibilities. The anisotropy of the normal state resistivity amounts to 105-106. The profiles of the in-plane and out-of-plane superconducting transitions are qualitatively different in both resistive and inductive measurements. The out-of-plane penetration depth is as long as 1.4 mm. All these results indicate that this material is a model system of Josephson-coupled two-dimensional layers with a high superconductive anisotropy,
