Abstract
The distribution of magnetic induction B in the high-temperature superconducting ceramics Y-Ba-Cu-O in an external magnetic field is studied both theoretically and experimentally using three-dimensional neutron polarization analysis. We demonstrate that the vector B changes both in its value and direction. Transverse and longitudinal currents with respect to the local field direction are evaluated from first principles using Maxwell equations. Various models describing longitudinal and transverse currents are considered and verified experimentally.
