Abstract
We examine the theoretical possibility of superconductivity in molecular crystals of the isohexaiminocryptand (IHIC), a molecule which has some properties in common with C60. Using the standard BCS theory with electron-phonon coupling we compare the predictions for the critical temperature Tc in the two cases. Our calculation shows that IHIC is likely to give rise to a larger value of Tc. The origin of this difference is discussed together with possible extensions. A comparison is made with some recent experimental data which show some evidence for a Tc of order 50 K in this material.
