Abstract
We show that the energies of the surface bound states in dx2−y2 and other unconventional superconductors are small in comparison with the relevant gap (but not zero) in the case where the order parameter has odd reflection symmetry on the surface (as in the case of a {110} surface of a dx2−y2 superconductor), but that in general these energies can be comparable in magnitude to the gap.
