Abstract
Calculations of the Josephson current across a tunnel junction, due to inelastic tunneling involving emission of spin fluctuations, are presented. The temperature and voltage dependence of the coefficients of both the sine and cosine of the order-parameter phase difference in the Josephson current are calculated for various superconductor order-parameter symmetries on both sides of the junction. Tunneling directionality is included. The Josephson current due to elastic tunneling is also investigated. Recent experimental measurements of critical currents in junctions involving high-temperature superconductors are also discussed.
