Abstract

Charge fluctuations are investigated in a dx2−y2-wave superconductor. Using a t−t′ tight-binding band, twin peaks show up around the incommensurate q=(π±δ0,π±δ0) and (π±δ0,π∓δ0) at low frequencies which shift to q=(π,π±δ) and (π±δ,π) when the frequency is above a threshold ω1. When the frequency is above another threshold ω2 (>ω1), more intense peaks appear at q=(π±δ′,π±δ′) and (π±δ′,π∓δ′). These incommensurate charge fluctuations have fairly distinct features when comparing to spin fluctuations and are fundamentally different from what should occur in a charge stripe phase.
