Abstract

The interpretation of x-ray diffraction, resistivity, and susceptibility measurements on R1−xCaxBa2Cu3O7−δ by Sedky et al. [Phys. Rev. B 58, 12 495 (1998)] in terms of different site preferences for oxygen vacancies and the compensation of Ca by the loss of oxygen is shown to be inconsistent with the wider body of experimental research.
