Abstract

In a magnetic field, the out-of-plane resistivity of pure Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10+δ single crystals (critical temperature Tc≃110K) shows a strong increase of the semiconductinglike temperature dependence with a strong suppression of the resistively measured transition temperature. At 28 T, the onset temperature of the resistive transition shifts to ∼22K for an out-of-plane current, whereas only to ∼70K for an in-plane current. Such an anisotropy in the superconducting transitions is possibly related to an inhomogeneous superconducting state between the CuO2 layers in this three-layer compound.
