Abstract
The phonon modes with strong electron-phonon interactions were investigated by two-phonon Raman scattering in Nd2−xCexCuO4 and Pr1−xLaCexCuO4. The modes change from the Σ1 modes near (0.4π,0.4π) in the insulating phase to the Δ1 modes near (0.4π,0) in the metallic phase. The temperature dependence of the Δ1 modes is the same as the Raman susceptibility of electronic excitations in the quasiparticle band generated at the Fermi energy. It suggests that the change of the electron-phonon interactions is directly related to the presence of the quasi-particle band in the metallic phase.
