Abstract

Measurements of the out-of-plane and in-plane magnetoresistances were carried out on monolayer nearly-optimally-doped Tl2Ba2CuO6+δ single crystals. Just above the critical transition temperature, Tc, the in-plane magnetoresistance was observed to be positive, while the out-of-plane magnetoresistance was negative. These anomalous magnetoresistances were analyzed based on the mean-field fluctuation theory, which includes Aslamazov-Lakin (AL), Maki-Thompson (MT), and the fluctuations of the quasiparticle density of state (FDOS) contributions. The FDOS contribution was found to be indispensable to explain the negative out-of-plane magnetoresistance in the mean field region.
