Abstract

The ultrasonic attenuation of the heavy-fermion superconductor UPt3 is investigated as a function of temperature, magnetic field strength, and frequency. It is shown that in the presence of a dc magnetic field at least one metastable and two stable phases exist in the superconducting state.
