Abstract
Proximity-effect theory of superconductor–normal-metal (S/N) superlattices is extended to the case of multilayers with an interphase between S and N layers. A nonmonotonic dependence of the superlattice critical temperature on the period Λ is obtained theoretically, in accordance with experiments of Qian et al. on Nb/Ti. Similar behavior of the perpendicular upper critical field Hc2 is predicted.
