Abstract

We present the results of a quantitative test to separate phononic from nonphononic contributions to the superconductivity in A15 Nb3Ge. This test is based on analysis of heat capacity and tunneling α2F(ω) data and neutron-scattering data. We obtained evidence for a substantial contribution of a nonphononic mechanism to the superconducting state in Nb3Ge. In contrast, our results suggest the superconducting state in Pb and V3Si is due to phonons.
