Abstract

An analytic study of the reverse ac Josephson effect, i.e., the use of an ac current to induce a dc voltage across a superconductor-insulator-superconductor tunnel junction, has been made for both small and large junctions. The possible values of the induced voltage are found to depend on the junction parameters and can be qualitatively different for small and large junctions as well as for small junctions with large or small resistance.
