Abstract

van Hulst et al. interpret our results on Ni/Bi thin films as due to (102)-oriented bulk Bi crystal structure instead of the possible fcc structure that we had interpreted as the structure of these films. They attribute the superconductivity in these films to surface phenomena in such films. It was pointed out here that the observed superconductivity in Ni/Bi is a bulk phenomenon and is not consistent with van Hulst’s model, as seen by our results on resistivity vs temperature, band structure seen in tunneling, critical field, conductance peaks, energy gap, etc.
