Abstract

Results of an experimental investigation of the transition from the superconducting to the normal state under the action of a field-electron-emission current for thin high-temperature-superconducting (HTSC) films are presented. It has been shown that such a transition can be controlled by a field-emission current, which is three to four orders of magnitude lower than a critical transport current in the film. A possible explanation is presented for the observed phenomenon. The control of switching of thin HTSC films by field emission can be used in superconducting miniature switching devices.
