Abstract

We calculate the effect of anisotropy on the frequency dependence of the product of the frequency times the imaginary part of the conductivity in a layered superconductor. As the anisotropy is increased, the prominent cusp-like structure at twice the gap value found in the dirty isotropic s-wave case, gets broadened and reduced in amplitude but remains clearly identifiable as a dip in the curve for a range of impurity concentrations. This contrasts sharply with the d-wave case for which no such structure is found.
