Abstract

Fe57 Mössbauer studies of Dy0.8R0.2′Ni2B2C (R′=Y, Lu) and Dy0.92La0.08Ni2B2C doped with 1 at. % Fe57 exhibit the appearance of a magnetic hyperfine field Bhf at the Fe57(Ni) site below the antiferromagnetic (AF) ordering temperature TN∼10K. Such a hyperfine field does not exist in pure AF DyNi2B2C. This hyperfine field can explain the reduction in the superconducting transition temperature for Dy0.8Y0.2Ni2B2C, however, it is too small to explain the complete breakdown of superconductivity in the case of La and Lu doping, respectively.
