Abstract
A simple model for the irreversible contribution to the isothermal magnetocaloric coefficient MT in type-II superconductors is presented. The account is based on the Bean model. Similarities and differences between MT and irreversible magnetization are described. The model predictions are confirmed by measurements of the YBa2Cu3O7−δ superconductor. The usefulness of the isothermal magnetocaloric effect as another tool for the critical current density determination was indicated.
