Abstract
We have studied the superconducting transition in In wires with diameters, d, as small as 400 Å. We find that the transition temperature is suppressed below the bulk value, by an amount ΔTc which varies as ≊d−1, and has a magnitude of approximately 0.1 K for our smallest wires. The magnitude of ΔTc does not appear to be consistent with recent theories which treat the effect of disorder on Tc in one dimension.
